How Lincoln Center can help you keep your New Years resolutions

Corporate-Happy-New-Year-2016-Wishes-Quotes

The holidays have come and gone like a flash, all of a sudden (too quick if you ask me) 2016 is in full swing! Like every New Year, people will write down their New Years resolutions and vow that this will be the year that they decide to stick to them for the entire year. Whether your resolution is to drop 15 lbs, to lose your Holiday weight, to finally clean out your home, to go through and update your wardrobe, etc. Here is the sad truth of New Years resolutions, 1 in 3 people will give up on their resolutions by the end of January. Now, I am not trying to discourage you from making resolutions, but I want to help by showing you how Lincoln Center can help you beat those odds and stay strong to your resolutions this year.

Here are some of the top resolutions that people make every year and how our wonderful merchants of Lincoln Center can help you stick to them in 2016.

  1. Exercise More

This is by far the most popular resolution every year for people in the United States, as you can probably tell by the looks of gyms at the beginning of the year. Not only is this one of the most popular resolutions but is the one most people fail at keeping up with. One of the best ways to stay with your goal of more exercise is by having a great support system to keep you accountable. Ben Mackie Fitness in Lincoln Center is a great gym for personal training, yoga, and Pilates for people of all ages and skill levels but one of the best things about Ben Mackie fitness is the support group that it provides for each of their clients. They will work with you to help you achieve your individual goals and build a plan that is destined for success. When beginning your fitness journey it is important to have the right equipment and when working out, that starts with your shoes. Stop into Fleet Feet and let them know what type of training you will be doing and they can help find the perfect shoe for you. If you invest in yourself and your fitness then you will be more likely to stick with it. Get your gear, grab your support group and get going!

  1. Eat Healthy and Lose weight

Another very popular resolution is to clean up your diet in order to lose weight. One of the most important factors in helping you succeed in this resolution is to make healthy eating a habit. Set yourself up for success by ridding your pantry of anything unhealthy but if you have kids then create a side of the pantry for them and a side for your healthy options. Go to Podesto’s Market and Deli to stock your home with locally grown and raised organic real foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein and make it a goal to cook at home for 80% of the week. Of course, things will come up because life is not perfect and you’ll need to grab a quick lunch out every now and then. Market Tavern’s market has healthy on-the-go meals already prepared such as kale salad with chicken, quinoa, Cobb salad and more! Also, head into Artesian Natural Foods and have one of their knowledgeable staff members guide you in picking out healthy on-the-go food bars, vitamins, protein powders etc. For those of you who need a more structured program to help aid you in weight loss, Jenny Craig has a location in the South side of Lincoln Center, stop in and see how they can help you with your journey.

  1. Clean out and Update Wardrobe

Cleaning out your wardrobe can be a tough and scary process; the contemplation over what to give away, throw away or keep can be quite overwhelming. If this is your resolution then you are very smart because it is a vital part of life, I don’t think any of us want to turn into an episode of hoarders or What Not to Wear. Plus, there are many organizations in our community that would greatly appreciate your donation of clothes, shoes, accessories etc. Once you have finally decided to go through and clean out your things, it is time to restock… the fun part! But you don’t need to go and spend all your money at once, make a list of the items that you need and slowly start to purchase through out the year. Our many boutiques would be more than willing to help you rebuild your wardrobe based on your style and price point.

  1. Organize your home

Similarly to revamping your wardrobe, this resolution is a great one to make for the New Year. Our society tends to hang onto items longer than necessary, consider going through your home and pulling out what can be sold or what can be thrown out. After you sell the pieces no longer needed, use that money to buy new. Lino Bella and Best Wishes have beautiful items to help you update. You will be surprised how much better you will feel about your home once it is revamped.

  1. Rebuild or focus on relationships

I think this is a wonderful resolution for the New Year. Friends can lose touch with each other, relationships may get out of sync and there is no time better than the New Year to refocus your priorities to those who matter most to you. This year, try to reconnect with an old friend over a glass of wine at Lincoln Cellar or catch up with an old coworker with Starbucks on the brickwalk or have a romantic date night at Midgley’s Public House with your significant other. One of the best things about Lincoln Center is the connection that people make with one another here. At every restaurant, coffee shop, boutique or bar top you can find friends, families or couples happily having conversations with one another.
