UNO de 50 necklace

Since first making their Lincoln Center debut in 1998, Carats has cemented its place as a go-to for beautiful gifts, unique jewelry, exceptional service and customer friendly staff. The store came to be when owners Pat and Curtis Lee decided to merge passions by combining Curtis’s entrepreneurial spirit with Pat’s love of jewelry. Before they knew it, their small business had taken off, something the couple partly attributes to the popularity of the Italian charm bracelets that swept the country in the late 90s/early 2000s. Over the years, Carats has continued to be at the forefront of fashion accessories and has remained situated in the heart of the Lincoln Center. In fact, over the last two decades Carats has served customers from four different locations in Lincoln Center—a series of moves Pat jokingly likens to musical chairs.

Pat and Curtis have found that the communal spirit of Lincoln Center shops aligns perfectly with their tight-knit business, which includes a small staff that feels more like family. Lyna, the cheerful face at the front of the store, and this month’s cover model, has been with Carats for over 6 years, and in the back of the shop is Kris, who has been with Pat and Curtis for 18 years! The most popular employee, however, is perhaps Chloe, the incredibly well-dressed shitzu that happily greets customers.

As for their incredible collection of products, there is truly something for every style, occasion, and budget at Carats. In addition to carrying popular brands such as Alex and Ani, Pandora, and UNO de 50, all of the items at Carats are hand-selected, which for Pat, is the most enjoyable part of the business. “I love looking for new product and finding things that are unique,” she said.

And “unique” is exactly the word to describe the collection of beautiful pieces available at Carats. UNO de 50, for example, is a collection that boasts bold and beautiful statement pieces that are all made in Spain. And akin to the Italian charm bracelets that Carats began with, Pandora offers composable bracelets that allow customers to create customized pieces of jewelry that pack as much sentiment as they do style. Whether you fill a bracelet with charms that represent your travels, or even your family, you can continually create a piece of jewelry that is unique to you.

Not sure what to get for yourself (or maybe your special someone)? Not a problem! The staff at Carats is happy to help. “We want to bring the latest fashion that’s out there to Stockton,” said Curtis. “So that way, people don’t have to go out of town and they can shop local.” With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, stop into Carats to find the perfect gift that is as one-of-a-kind as your loved one.
