Through the years....

Explore milestones that mark 75 years of growth, community, and local business at Lincoln Center.

1951

The founders acquired 1,800 acres from Stockton business leader Benjamin Holt and formed a corporation called Lincoln Properties, Inc.

1951

Lincoln Center opened with 25,000 square feet of space that housed 16 neighborhood stores, including Black’s market.

1954

Ad Art sign company was contracted to construct and erect the 18 foot rotating “L” and place it atop a 97 foot tower discovered in Turlock and believed to be a used Central California oil derrick.

1955

Gaines Market replaces Black’s Market.

1967

Lincoln Center unveiled the Astro-Slide, a 153-foot long, 36-foot high curved wooden slide built on pilings. Reputedly the first of its kind in the nation, riders used sacks to slide down. For a time, it was a defining landmark of Lincoln Village.

1972

Dutch Pride Dairy began operating at Lincoln Center, offering neighborhood staples like milk, eggs, and other dairy products.
