Celebrating 75 Years!

1951

The founders acquired 1,800 acres from Stockton business leader Benjamin Holt and formed a corporation called Lincoln Properties, Inc.

1951

Lincoln Center opened with 25,000 square feet of space that housed 12 neighborhood stores, including Black’s Market, Village Barber Shop, Iona Hepper’s Village Gifts, Gingham Gal Fountain, and more.

1953

Harry and Katie Campbell opened Campbell’s as a small children’s clothing store, which later grew to a 25,000sq ft department store offering apparel for men, women, teens, and more!

1954

Ad Art sign company was contracted to construct and erect the 18-foot rotating “L” and place it atop a 97-foot tower discovered in Turlock, believed to be a used Central California oil derrick.

1955

Gaines Market replaces Black’s Market, one of the original 12 stores opened in 1951.

1966

Dok Shoons (now DADs Dogs) and Village Flair (now Flair Boutique) opened.

1967

Lincoln Center unveiled the Astro-Slide, a 153-foot-long, 36-foot-high curved wooden slide built on pilings. Reputedly the first of its kind in the nation, riders used sacks to slide down. For a time, it was a defining landmark of Lincoln Village.

1970

Don Quick Market replaces Gaines Market.

1972

Dutch Pride Dairy began operating at Lincoln Center, offering neighborhood staples like milk, eggs, and other dairy products.

1976

Lincoln Center Celebrates 25 Years!

1982

Podesto’s Market opens with the hope of building something new and different, inspired by specialty stores in Sacramento that sold gourmet and hard-to-find items.

1983

Gary J Long Jewelers opened.

1986

FINA opened.

1993

Trader Joe’s, Bud’s Seafood Grille, Starbucks & Noah’s Bagels opened.

1999

First Lincoln Center LIVE!

2001

Lincoln Center celebrates 50 years!

2002

Great Spectacles moved to Lincoln Center.

2007

Lincoln Center was voted #1 shopping center in the first Best of San Joaquin and has continued to hold this spot each year.

2008

The center shifted from roughly 80% retail to include more food, salons, and personalized gyms.

2011

Amenities like the kids’ playground, free Wi‑Fi, comfortable seating, and shaded gathering areas were added.

2016

New Big L.

2018

Nightly snowfall on the Brickwalk began, which has continued to be a favorite holiday tradition.

2020

Sephora, Mancini’s Sleepworld, Fire Wings, Sheryl Giles Bridal Couture, La Mesa, POMP Suites, and Ramen 101 open.

2022

Crumbl, Heirloom Kitchen, and Limitless Axes & Ales open.

2026

Lincoln Center celebrates 75 years!
